Automotive components have experienced a greater increase in demand than domestic exports of goods, which in turn experienced a decline of 3.6% compared to April 2022, demonstrating a notable trend for the twelfth consecutive month. In April there was a growth of 26.9%, in comparison to the same period last year, resulting in a value of 899 million euros, which contrasts with the pre-pandemic period of approximately 795 million euros in April 2019.<\/p>\n\n

Although supply chain disruptions continue to affect the Portuguese automotive industry, such as the shortage of chips and electronic components, it remains resilient and has a very efficient responsiveness. This has allowed an achievement of an increasing market share.<\/p>\n\n

Compared to the accumulated value until April 2023, car components have reached 3945 million euros (an increase of 22.5% compared to the same period in 2022).<\/p>\n\n

Among the main customers of Portuguese automotive components there are four out of five countries whose exports increased compared to the previous year: Spain (+ 21%), Germany (+ 29.5%), France (+ 24.2%) and Slovakia (+ 29.4%). Despite the fact that United States of America is part of the five markets whose 70% of Portuguese exports of automotive components are destined, this country presented a drop of 15.5%, remaining as the 5th client country.<\/p>\n\n
