During the first six months of this year, external sales grew by around <strong>7.7%<\/strong>, exceeding two billion euros, with the <strong>Aerospace <\/strong>sector showing the strongest growth.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The main <strong>Destination Countries<\/strong> are:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ukraine:<\/strong> 24.9 million euros (+210%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>United States:<\/strong> 16.4 million euros (+507%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>United Kingdom<\/strong>: 9.6 million euros<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spain<\/strong>: 5.7 million euros<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>France<\/strong>: 5.3 million euros<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/en\/industries\/food-beverage\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/industrias\/alimentar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fruits<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/en\/industries\/food-beverage\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/industrias\/alimentar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vegetables<\/a>, and Flowers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/en\/industries\/food-beverage\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/industrias\/alimentar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fruit<\/a><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/en\/industries\/food-beverage\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/industrias\/alimentar\/\"><strong>Vegetables<\/strong><\/a> and Flowers sector is experiencing growth in national sales to <strong>External Markets<\/strong>. In the first half of the year, sales increased by around <strong>13.4%<\/strong> compared to the same period in 2023, reaching <strong>\u20ac1.18 billion<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p>The sector exported to around <strong>121 countries<\/strong>, with the <strong>European Union<\/strong> absorbing around <strong>81%<\/strong> of the total sales of <strong>Fruit<\/strong>, <strong>Vegetables<\/strong> and <strong>Flowers<\/strong> produced in Portugal.Five markets accounted for around <strong>74%<\/strong> of the value of sales, including: <strong>Spain<\/strong>, <strong>France,<\/strong> the <strong>Netherlands<\/strong>, <strong>Germany<\/strong> and the <strong>United Kingdom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Wines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>In the first half of 2024, Portuguese wine exports increased slightly by <strong>1.25%<\/strong> over the same period last year, reaching <strong>452.4 million euros<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>In terms of the number of litres exported, there was an increase of <strong>8.5%<\/strong>, to a total of <strong>171.5 million litres<\/strong>. The average price was <strong>2.64 euros\/litre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>France<\/strong> (<strong>53.4 million euro<\/strong>), followed by the <strong>United States<\/strong> (<strong>50.1 million euro<\/strong>) and Brazil (<strong>38.9 million euro<\/strong>) were the main export markets in terms of <strong>value<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>In terms of volume exported (<strong>litres<\/strong>), <strong>France <\/strong>remains the leading producer (<strong>17.5 million litres<\/strong>). It is followed by<strong> Spain<\/strong> (<strong>16.4 million litres<\/strong>) and <strong>Angola<\/strong> (<strong>15.3 million litres<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Pharmaceuticals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Portuguese Exports<\/strong> to the<strong> United States <\/strong>have been growing, driven mainly by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/en\/industries\/pharma\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/industrias\/pharma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pharmaceuticals<\/a><\/strong>, which now account for a significant share of total goods sold. In the first half of this year, they reached <strong>600 million euros<\/strong>. This represents an increase of around <strong>21% <\/strong>compared to the same period last year. <\/p>\n\n<p>Among the main exports to the USA are:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Rubber<\/strong>: 93 million euros (+38.5%);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Machinery<\/strong>, <strong>Equipment<\/strong> and <strong>Electrical Materials<\/strong>: 164.4 million euro (-2.1%);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nuclear Reactors<\/strong>, <strong>Boilers<\/strong>, <strong>Machinery<\/strong>, <strong>Mechanical Appliances<\/strong> and <strong>Components<\/strong>: 107 million euro (+2.9%); &#8211; Cork: 98.5 million euro (-6.6%); &#8211; Cast iron, iron or steel works: 90 million euros (+15.8%); &#8211; Textile products: 63 million euro (+25.3%).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cork<\/strong>: 98.5 million euro (-6.6%);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cast Iron<\/strong>, <strong>Iron<\/strong>, or <strong>Steel Works<\/strong>: 90 million euros (+15.8%);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Manufactured Textiles<\/strong>: 63 million euros (+25.3%).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/en\/industries\/automotive\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/industrias\/automovel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Automotive<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Exports<\/strong> of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/en\/industries\/automotive\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/industrias\/automovel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Automotive <\/a><\/strong>industry in the northern region of Portugal reached <strong>5.357 billion euros<\/strong> last year, leading among the <strong>24 identified sectors<\/strong> &#8211; including Textiles and Clothing, Machinery and Electrical Equipment, Basic Metals, among others &#8211; and representing about <strong>19.8%<\/strong> of the total exports of this region.<\/p>\n\n<p>Exports from the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/en\/industries\/automotive\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/industrias\/automovel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Automotive<\/a><\/strong> sector grew by around <strong>12.7 %<\/strong> in the period 2022-2023, in contrast to the stagnant total exports from the <strong>Northern<\/strong> area. On a broader horizon, between 2011 and 2023, the cumulative growth of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/en\/industries\/automotive\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/olicargo.com\/industrias\/automovel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Automotive<\/a><\/strong> industry&#8217;s exports was 77.5%, outpacing the region&#8217;s total exports, which grew by 68.7%. <\/p>\n\n<p>In terms of representation in automotive exports by region, <strong>Ave <\/strong>(<strong>27.9%<\/strong>), the <strong>Oporto Metropolitan Area<\/strong> (<strong>26.6%<\/strong>) and <strong>Alto Minho<\/strong> (<strong>21%<\/strong>) stand out. <strong>Spain<\/strong> (<strong>30.9 %<\/strong>), <strong>Germany<\/strong> (<strong>20 %<\/strong>) and <strong>France<\/strong> (<strong>12.4 %<\/strong>) are among the most important destinations.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Sources:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>AICEP.
