Supply chain disruptions are more common than ever. From production problems related to Covid-19, to warehousing of raw materials, port congestion, political challenges and even climate events, there were only a few companies who have managed to escape a rupture.
In order to answer these changes it was necessary to rethink the supply chain and in this sense emerges the concept of “Resilient Supply Chain”, which is based on the ability to anticipate, plan and respond quickly to interruptions, minimizing costs and business impact.
Here are some of the key factors of a more resilient supply chain:
Visibility – The clearness of each stage of supply chain is essential for forecasting and planning the entry and exit of goods. It can be achieved through digitization and investment in technology, once obtaining accurate and real-time data allows to identify and even anticipate interruptions. So that it is possible to make better decisions about production, transport and distribution.
Diversification – Expanding suppliers range makes it possible to increase also a wide array of offers and, consequently, optimizing costs acquisition and expanding alternatives, rethinking the supply chain and adapting market unpredictability.
Flexibility and Agility – Essential aspects to adjust and adapt supply chain processes in response to changes and transitions that may arise. When combined they allow entry and/or exit optimization of goods and alternate modes of transport and/or routes.
Collaboration- A company needs to cultivate and ensure all suppliers and partners support since this provides key information for better decision making, greater ability to overcome obstacles and respond to disruptions.
