Moving goods by road, sea and air has a huge impact on developing countries, connecting producers to consumers, driving industrial growth and stimulating innovation.

At Olicargo, we transport all types of goods, from the delicate to the robust, from the fragile to the resilient, with total safety and efficiency. We are a freight forwarder with a focus on end-to-end logistics. This means that we don’t classify your freight as “just another”, but rather help you find the best transport solution for your business needs.

Don’t miss the opportunity to increase your knowledge of freight transport and optimise your logistics operations. Read today’s publication by Olicargo:

1. Temperature Controlled

These loads are intended for human consumption and require special care in terms of refrigeration. They must not be exposed to temperature fluctuations in order to ensure the quality, integrity and safety of the products and thus avoid health risks.

1.1. Perecíveis – Como são suscetíveis de se deteriorarem e estragarem com o tempo, para o seu transporte são imprescindíveis as câmaras frigoríficas e os equipamentos de refrigeração.

(Ex. Fruits and Vegetables, Dairy Products, Meats, Bakery and Pastry Products, Flowers, Vaccines and Medicines…)

1.2. Congelados – É necessário que a temperatura seja mantida do início ao fim, garantindo a congelação e conservação da carga durante o trajeto.

(Ex. Ice Cream, Frozen Vegetables and Fruits, Frozen Pastries, Frozen Meat, Fish and Seafood, Frozen Ready Meals).

2. Bulk – In natura goods that can be transported and packaged in their raw state, i.e. without individual packaging.

2.1. Liquid Bulk – Common to several industries, including the oil, chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries, which transport liquid goods, usually in large quantities and without individual packaging.

(Ex. Crude Oil, Refined Petroleum Products, Ethyl Alcohol, Industrial Cleaning Products, Drinking Water, Milk, Juices…)

2.2. Dry Bulk – Solid products, generally grains and commodities, essential to consumers and the global economy.

(Ex. Beans, Corn, Flour, Salt, Sugar, Barley, and Non-Food Products – Coal, Sand, Gravel, Gravel, Cement…)

3. Live Animals – Live animals are transported from one place to another for various purposes – trade, reproduction, exhibition, etc. – specific conditions may be required, such as: adequate space, visibility, ventilation, flooring, spillage protection, safety beams, emergency number marking, certification…

(Ex. Poultry, Cattle, Pigs, Horses, Aquaculture Fish, Wild and Pet Animals…)

4. Non-Divisible and Exceptional – Equipment which, due to its weight and size, may not be divided or dismantled and may require more complex operations and, consequently, the use of special vehicles with more appropriate dimensions, capacity, suspension and construction.

(Ex. Generators, Turbines, Industrial Machinery, Steel Beams, Wind Blades, Aereonaves Components…)

5.Dry – Industrial and non-perishable products that do not require refrigeration, thermal protection or special humidity conditions. They can be transported at any time, regardless of climate or season.

(e.g. packaged foods: Rice, Flour, Cereals, Biscuits; Canned Foods: Vegetables, Fruits; Packaged Beverages; Personal Care Products; Cleaning Products; Office Supplies and Stationery; Wood and Furniture; Hardware; Building Materials; Furniture).

6.Dangerous – Considered particularly sensitive to management due to their potential risks to human health and safety and to the environment, both natural and man-made. These may be flammable, toxic, corrosive, radioactive or present other types of hazards.

(Ex. Explosives, Flammable Gases, Toxic Gases, Flammable Liquids, Radioactive Materials, Chemicals, Pesticides, Fuels).

7. Fragile – More delicate or fragile goods that require special care during packing, loading and unloading due to a high risk of deterioration.

(Ex. Crystals, Glasses, Mirrors, Crockery, Works of Art, Musical Instruments, Optical Equipment…).
